Haruo Shirane, Shincho Professor of Japanese Literature, Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, Columbia University, discusses his recently published book, Japan and the Culture of the Four Seasons: Nature, Literature, and the Arts, ideal for understanding Rimpa, Edo visual culture and Sakai Hōitsu's milieu. Followed by a book signing and reception.
